Looking for engaging, sensory-friendly activities for kids on the spectrum? Colorado Springs has an exciting lineup of events over the next month. These events are designed to provide a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for children with autism and their families. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming events you won’t want to miss!

1. Artists on the Spectrum (Ages 5-99) — December 10, 2024, at 6:30 PMHosted by Autism Vision of Colorado, this event offers children and adults a chance to explore their creativity in a supportive, inclusive environment. Art activities are tailored to meet the needs of participants of all abilities, encouraging self-expression and sensory exploration. This is a great opportunity for children to connect with others while building confidence through art. Learn more about this event here.

2. Low-Sensory Mornings at the Children’s Museum of DenverOn select mornings, the Children's Museum of Denver provides a sensory-friendly experience where children with disabilities can enjoy the museum's exhibits with reduced crowding, lower ambient noise, and adaptive tools like noise-reducing headphones. Admission is free for families of children with disabilities, but space is limited, so early RSVP is encouraged.

3. Sensory Playtime at WOW! Children’s MuseumWOW! Children’s Museum offers low-sensory playtimes where lights are dimmed, sounds are softened, and participation is limited to ensure a calm environment. Kids can engage with exhibits that promote STEM learning, fine motor skills, and creative exploration. Occupational and art therapists are sometimes on-site to support play activities.

4. Special Needs Days at Jump Street Trampoline ParksOn the first Saturday of each month, Jump Street opens its doors for Special Needs Days. This event allows children with special needs and their families to experience the thrill of trampolining in a quieter, more controlled setting. Parents and guardians can jump for free alongside their children.

These events provide a fantastic way for children with autism to develop social, sensory, and motor skills while enjoying activities tailored just for them.
